Transporation Checklist
Disable or remove your E-Z Pass, SunPass or other Prepaid Toll Transponder to avoid unnecessary toll deductions during shipment.
Check the under carriage of your vehicle to make sure there are no leaking fluids.
Make sure there is no more than a quarter tank of gas in the vehicle.
Include the ignition, door and trunk key with the car for shipment. Make sure you have a complete set for yourself and for the auto shipper. This is also a requirement of DOT in case your driver is stopped.
Remove any non-permanent mounted equipment such as luggage racks prior to shipping; check with our office first to confirm if it is necessary.
Store any baggage or personal effects you wish to be shipped in the trunk (ONLY) and limit to 100 lbs (check weight limit at time of shipping). Personal belongings inside the vehicle are not covered if lost or stolen.
It is important not to overload your car. This could result in damage to your vehicle as an overloaded car does not ride well on the trailer.
Prepare a written list of any special starting, stopping or alarm disabling procedures. Any interior and exterior defects should also be noted including nicks, chips, or scratches in the glass.
Make sure your vehicle is personally insured.
It is a good idea to have your car serviced, oil change if needed, prior to shipment.
If you are transporting a rare, exotic, classic, custom or other expensive car, choose enclosed transport if you can. It's worth the money.
Remember to remove cell phones, charges, and GPS equipment.
If you have antennas for your CB, radio, or cell phone that can be removed, remember to do so. Also lower any retractable antennas to ensure they are not broken.
If you will be moving to a diverse climate, make sure to prepare your car for the change so there are no issues upon arrival. Check with your mechanic on tips for preparing your car.
Disable your car alarm.
